      Nicole Gets Case Dismissed Right Before Trial, Statute of Limitations Expires

      Case: Second Degree Assault, Domestic Assault

      Result: In 2018, Nicole’s client was charged with one count of Felony Second Degree Assault and one count of Misdemeanor Domestic Assault. After disclosing their investigation, the prosecutor dismissed the case on the eve of trial and sent it to the city attorney’s office for misdemeanor charges. Because the statute of limitations for the city to charge the case has now passed, Nicole’s client will not face any charges resulting from this incident.

      Dani Gets Theft & Assault Charges Expunged

      Result: Dani’s client was previously convicted in juvenile court on two different felony cases for theft and aiding and abetting assault charges following an incident in 2020. The convictions continued to have a negative impact on her client’s school and ability to work. The Court granted the expungements a few days later, meaning the convictions will no longer be viewable or visible on their criminal record.

This means that neither client will have an Assault or Domestic Assault charge on their record, and neither will face specific collateral issues resulting from the original charges that would have had devastating career and life impacts for these clients. Additionally, after successful completion of probation, the Disorderly Conduct charge will be dismissed for both clients.

With her client’s clean criminal history and numerous witnesses supporting her client and his version of events, Nicole was able to negotiate effectively with the prosecutor on his case. Ultimately, the prosecutor dismissed the charge against her client.
