Mike Brandt’s client was charged with a felony for allegedly engaging in prostitution with a child between the ages of 13 and 16. The charges emanated from a law enforcement sting where Mike’s client was alleged to have agreed to hire a decoy officer posing as a 15 year old girl. Mike was prepared to go to trial on this case, but before the start of trial the prosecutor agreed to reduce the charge to a gross misdemeanor. Mike’s client took advantage of that offer and ended up walking out of the situation with two years of probation and community work service. Mike’s client was not required to serve any jail time and avoided a felony conviction. Additionally, because of the manner in which the case was resolved Mike’s client is eligible to have his record expunged (sealed) after he is off probation.
