Mike Brandt’s client was charged in Benton County, Minnesota, in December 2017, with three counts of selling drugs. His charges stemmed from an elaborate undercover operation where the Drug Taskforce utilized confidential informants to set up multiple drug buys from Mike’s client. After the drug transactions, the police obtained a search warrant and obtained a large quantity of drugs from Mike’s client’s house.
In preparing the case, Mike was able to point out problems with the search warrant and issues with the confidential informant. Because of these issues, the Prosecuting Attorney agreed to reduce the charges to low-level drug charges which resulted in Mike’s client being placed on probation and serving a couple of weeks in jail. Additionally, because the manner in which the case was resolved, Mike’s client will be eligible to have the records from this incident expunged (sealed) so his client will be able to have these matters hidden from any sort of background check.
