Mike Brandt’s client was a passenger in a car that was stopped for speeding in Northern Anoka County. The police suspected there was contraband in the car so they searched the car and found some drugs near Mike’s client. Mike’s client was arrested for felony possession of drug charges. Before charges were filed against him Mike intervened and conducted an investigation into circumstances regarding his client’s location in the vehicle, information about the other occupant of the car, and also cooperated with his client giving fingerprints to show that his fingerprints were not on the controlled substances.
Once the Prosecutor reviewed all the information that Mike presented to him, a prosecuting attorney decided not to file felony drug charges against Mike’s client. This obviously helped keep Mike’s client’s record clean and prevented all of the collateral consequences that go along with a felony drug charge from happening.
