Mike Brandt represented a client who was charged with Driving After Suspension and Speeding from the City of Edina, occurring on August 22, 2018. It was through a strange sequence of events that Mike’s client had lost his driving privileges and by the time the matter went to court, the client had his license reinstated. A conviction of the charges would have resulted in Mike’s client losing his driving privileges once again.
In preparing the matter for court, Mike was able to show the prosecutor the strange circumstances that caused his client’s license to be suspended in the first place, as well as the fact that his client currently had a valid license. Based upon these factors, the prosecutor agreed to continue the matter for dismissal. This means that Mike’s client did not enter a plea of any type and the charges were continued for one year at which time they will be dismissed as long as Mike’s client paid some costs of prosecution and does not get another moving violation. This resolution allowed Mike’s client to not lose his license yet again and kept any moving violations off his client’s driving record
