Nicole Nichols’s client was charged with domestic assault after allegedly sending threatening text messages to his wife about hiding a dead body. Nicole began an investigation, including subpoenaing phone records from multiple cell phones, interviewing witnesses, and ordering transcripts from previous court hearings between the parties. Nicole and her client decided they wanted to take this case to trial because her client did not want to have a criminal record and and also because the information in the police reports was disputed. At the first several court appearances, the prosecutor would not budge, as his only offer was to plead guilty to the domestic assault. Nicole prepared the case for trial and on the morning of the trial, Nicole and the prosecutor discussed the case and the prosecutor agreed to dismiss the case.
