Mike Brandt represented a client who is charged with Disorderly Conduct stemming from an incident at a New Year’s party. The incident involved in an altercation between Mike’s client and another girl who was dating the client’s old boyfriend. The two of them got into a shouting match, which eventually turned physical. Both of them were equally at fault and both of them had engaged in a physical altercation, however, only Mike’s client was charged.
Mike took several statements from witnesses that were at the party who noted that both of the women were equally at fault and the other woman was probably more aggressive than Mike’s client. While he was willing to do so at first, the prosecutor eventually agreed to continue the charges for dismissal. This means that the charges against Mike’s client will be dismissed in one year as long as his client state out of trouble. This was very important to Mike’s client since she had a clean record up to this point and a conviction for this type of the charge could have affected her ability to obtain employment in the future.
