Nicole Kettwick’s client was charged with Felony Domestic Assault and Misdemeanor Domestic Assault in the City of Blaine. Nicole’s client was involved in an argument with his girlfriend. She called the police and reported he threw things at her in the bathroom while the children were present. She tried to leave the house with the kids but he would not let her. He grabbed her, twisted her arm, slapped her across the face and slammed her head into the floor multiple times while strangling her. She reported that he was applying so much pressure that when she tried to scream nothing came out. He strangled her multiple times and she thought she was going to die.
There was a Domestic Abuse No Contact Order (DANCO) in place which Nicole filed a motion to vacate after learning her client’s girlfriend wanted to have contact to work on their relationship. The Prosecutor opposed the motion but after considering Nicole’s argument, the Judge agreed and granted the motion. Nicole negotiated further and was able to accomplish her client’s goals of getting the felony charge dismissed and not spending any additional time in jail.
